I think the REAL cat we are supposed to see is the one superimposed on the image. There is a "ghosty" blurry cat shape superimposed. It is just to the left of centre and is sitting up and takes up most of the space.

Where are you seeing them? I can see it somewhat clearly on the right side centre somewhere, one stripy cat sitting, blended well into its surroundings
