The Prophet (sallAllahu Alaihi Wassallam) said "The best of you after the year 200 is he who will have a light load on his back." The Companions asked what that meant, and he answered, "He who has neither family nor children."
"A time will come over man when he will be destroyed by his wife, parents and children. They will give him such troubles which be out of his capacity. As a result, he will adopt such measures for which his religion will be ruined and he will be destroyed."
The Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi Wassallam) said "One of the two reasons of wantlessness is a less number of family members. One of the two reasons for poverty is having too many persons."
Abu Sulaiman Darani was once asked about marriage and he said "Patience of not having a wife is better than having patience of duty to her; and the patience of duties towards her is better than the patience towards hell fire."
Abu Sulaiman Darani also said "he who searches for three things becomes attached to the world; searching for livelihood, marrying a woman and writing stories."
...meaning forced to focus more on the worldly attachments due to more responsibility....
Hazrat Hassan Basri (r.a) said "When God wishes a good for a man. He does not keep him engage in family and property."
The Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi Wassallam) has a dua ..."Oh Allah I seek refuge in you from a wife that would turn my hair white before my old age..." he taught this dua to us.....
A Sage was asked "How do you have patience to remain alone?" To which he replied 'I am not alone, when I am patience Allah (swt) is with me"...
...even though the merits of marriage outweigh the demerits yet just sharing the above few statements that can help gain a positive outlook at an unmarried life....
