The Darfur conflict in western Sudan has killed millions and forced millions from there homes Janjaweed militia are christian militia the Sudanese goverment are supporting the Janjaweed with weapons and arrest warrants by the UN WAR CRIMES TRIBUNAL have been issued against a Sudanese goverment offical and a Janjaweed militia leader your thoughts on this ongoing conflict please. Yeah but the conflict in Darfur isnt between muslims and christians, but between muslims (Arabs) and muslims (black africans) . The war in south was ended lately, and south of Sudan may gain authonomy. People will have chance to vote for this.

I think it is completely erroneous to describe the Janajweed as "Christian". They absolutely do not come from Christian backgrounds. Neither are they really Muslim, it seems, althought they are Arab-speaking. They seem chiefly areligious bandits and nomads. They are partly motivated by the need for grazing land and partly by racial hatred and partly by money form the Sudanese government.

There is a Christian minority in Southern Sudan (not Darfur). That fight is already over and there is a truce.


BTW...the figure of "millions" killed seems too high by at least a factor of 5 based on estimates I have seen. This is a rural area with low population density, not downtown Mombai

You must be kidding? The Janjaweed militia in Sudan commiting genocide are arab muslims.
 
A definition of Janjaweed from Wikpedia:


The term is a derivative of the Persian word, jang, "war", and jangawee, "warrior." The term was adopted by the Mahdists in Sudan along with the idea of the Mahdi---a lingering tradition of the old Rustamid Ibadi dynasty of Tunisia who hailed from a Persian background.

The Ismaili Shia Fatimids dynasty, who conquered the Rustamids, inherited the term and carried it to Egypt, thence Sudan. The Mahdists showed a strong Shia ideological imprint, although they were Sunnis in their belief.

The term Janjaweed is an Arabicized version of Jangawee--, which stood for "faith warriors" among the old Shia communities of North Africa in the medieval times.
 
This conflict is coming about because Sudan isn't a true country. Darfur should become an independent state, end of story.

Uhh, the Janjaweed aren't Christians, they are Muslims, albeit self-proclaimed ones who probably haven't even heard anything about what the Quran has to say about racism, toture, rape and murder. :?
