Trial By Design

So let's set the record straight. We believe in Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) and we believe that He tests those who He loves. We are thus held responsible not for the circumstances that we are placed in, but rather for the way we react to those circumstances. Lastly, yet most importantly we are blessed with a living example of how to respond to these tests, the Prophet ﷺ.

In other words focus on the things in life that you can actually change, and if there is one thing that each and everyone of us can change, its our own selves and the way we respond to hardships.

In life, we probably would like to change other people, rather than change ourselves.

Greetings and peace to you as well brother Eric,

I understand your reasoning. Thankfully, I have been made aware - through the guidance of Muhammad (PBUH) - that Allah will only ask me about me and who I had responsibility over - my wife and kids in my case. Due to this teaching of Islam, I have to focus on developing myself according to Muhammad's (PBUH) sunnah/way of thinking, acting, and feeling. It is not an option, it is an obligation.

I have no control over other peoples beliefs and actions. According to what I have learned, I will not be questioned about what I had no control over. Thus, my self-reformation - according to way of Muhammad (PBUH) - is priority number one.

May Allah guide us all.
