Did i commit shirk? Please help

Ok so i am in history class right now and the teacher asked what polytheism and monotheism is. I raised my hand and said:" Polytheism is multiple divine/godly existences and monotheism is one God" did i commit shirk with that? I mean i dont believe that there are more than one god, i just wanted to answer the question to eventually get a good grade.

you just answered a question correctly.

acknowledging that polytheism exists is not the same as acknowledging that multiple gods exist.

it is just a fact that there are people alive out there who actually believe in more than 1 god.

so why would it be shirk if you just mention that fact?
