Does Islam allow abortion?

Shari’ah ruling on abortion is divided into two stages:


a) Abortion after the soul (Ruh) enters the foetus --> It is not permissible

b) Abortion prior to the entry of the soul in to the foetus --> Only permissible under certain conditions
