I have noticed users replying to certain messages by writing 'EDIT' only.

What does it mean?

i don think it means anything, i think they put the word 'EDIT' there, because they've changed their post..

:sl:

Sometimes people change their mind or for whatever reason wish to remove their reply eg. they double posted. So they go back and delete the content, and they simply leave the word 'edit' to show they've changed the post. And they have to write something because there is a minimum character limit in posts.

All of which could be avoided if members were allowed to delete their own posts...

But what about thread clarity, I hear you ask?

Well, there is hardly going to be any more clarity in a thread if there is a post with a big, fat EDIT in it. The post might as well not be there!

If I remember right, one of the unadvertised features of the new forum system,:skeleton: is too many deletes corrupt the data base.

edit is a wonderful feature.
when you realize that you've just said something really stupid for the whole world to see - whooooosh!
and nobody has to know. ;D
long live "edit"!
