I had it last year :) but it was POLISH labor law (labor law = employment law ?).
I'm sorry to say but i have really bad memories. Still it's VERY useful!!
How are first impressions about it?

polish! are u polish?! omg i need your help with something! (unrelated to this topic!) will PM u soon inshAllah

i think you get a true feel of the subject after your tutorial coz u have to prepare work for it..
BUT
i havnt even looked at my tutorial work and my tutorial is tomorrow morning!!..i aint even got the core textbook yet! gonna try and skip it and go to the tutorial next week (i have gud reasons!)

Im just reading 2 cases and finding them rlly rlly interesting, so inshAllah should eb good fun..

why do u have bad memories, if u dont mind me asking?!

.. maybe that's the problem? We (continental Europe) don't start with cases. Cases play really marginal role in my law education. I'm now on course in European law and this involves a lot of cases (but probably less that you have to face..) and i like it much better!

oh...labor law together with commercial law are the toughest exams to pass at my uni. labor law is HUGE (i had it together with social security law). The fact, that i didn't learn it much durnig year and then i had to suffer consequences sitting by labor code and other acts all days long; didn't made it easy for me to dislike it.
And somehow i don't "feel" this law. there are some kinds of law that you like, understand and feel like a fish in the see (even when you just begin to learn them). And there are those which simply are not yours :)

Do you also study law? Or is law just part of your education?

Ooh, law students! How are things, my fellow shysters-in-training? :)

To answer the question this thread is posing, I don't do employment law but do know someone who's doing labour law...

...it's almost crowdy here :giggling:

maybe we could change this into "law students around the world - unite!' thread??

What years are you on?
What are your plans for future?
Your favorite "part' of law?

I'm now on an exchange program in Belgium and i deal now only with European law.
Oh..and I'm now on 5 year...the last one. imsad

Hello againnn.. Asalaamualaikum

In answer to the questions:

Im studying LL.B Law degree and im in my second year alhamdulillah

future plans: initially were to become a successful solicitor but i saw the light and my priorities changed, now i wanna do well, but be a housewife first.. and wud be great if i could work from home!!

my favourite part of law in my first year was contract law.. i rlly wanna take company law in third year! .. this year i think it'll be criminal

Im finding Land Law really difficult to grasp even tho i got a first in my property law exam!
Anybody got a formula for answering problem questions on land law, from the perspective of the trustee and the purchaser?

duskiness: yap we are usually told the key cases n statutes from the very beginning..
