1- Ihram:

Due to the Prophet’s statement ﷺ: “Deeds are according to intentions and every person will be rewarded according to his intention. Therefore, whosoever has emigrated for the sake of Allah and His Messenger, then his emigration was for Allah and His Messenger. And whosoever emigrated for the sake of a worldly gain, or a woman “whom he desires” to marry, then his emigration is for the sake of that which “moved him” to emigrate.” [ Source: Bukhari.]

2- The Sa’y between as-Safa and al-Marwa:

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Perform Sa’y (between them); indeed Allah has decreed that you perform Sa’y (between them).” [ Source: Ahmad.]

3- Tawaaf:

as Allah, the Most High, said, “…and circumambulate the Ancient House.”

Umrah is a sacred pilgrimage in Islam that can be done at any time of the year. There are four essential acts of Umrah. These acts/steps are as follow:
  1. Ihram
  2. Tawaf
  3. Sa'i
  4. Halq/Taqsir
Ihram:
Ihram is an important step of Umrah. Muslims make a genuine intention and wear particular clothing when they enter the holy state of Ihram. Men wear two unstitched white sheets as their Ihram clothes. However, women can wear any type of clothing (modest & loose-fitting) that covers their entire bodies except their face and hands. When Muslims assume the state of Ihram during Umrah, they cannot do many tasks, including using perfume, cutting hair or nails, etc.

Tawaf:
After reaching Mecca, Muslims enter the Masjid Al Haram to do Tawaf (encircling the Kaaba seven times in a counter-clockwise direction). This important ritual starts and ends at the Hajar Al Aswad. Pilgrims recite "Talbiyah" (a particular Du'a in Arabic) when they circumambulate the Kaaba. Pigrims offer two rakats of prayer at the Maqam Ibrahim after making Tawaf. After offering two rakats of prayer, they drink Zamzam water.

Sa'i:
After doing Tawaf, Muslims perform Sa’i. Sa'i is walking between the hills of Safa and Marwa seven times. Moreover, Muslims do this important step to honour Hajar's struggle to search for water for her infant son, Prophet Ismail (A.S.).

Halq/Taqsir:
Halq/Taqsir is the final step of Umrah. After doing this step, pilgrims exit the state of Ihram and wear their regular clothes. This act symbolizes the completion of Umrah. When Mulims shave their entire heads after Umrah, it is called Halq. For men, doing this act is necessary to exit the state of Ihram. However, male pilgrims can cut their hair (Taqsir). While, women are only required to cut a small portion of their hair that is the length of a fingertip.
