Not based on scripture.

In Eastern etiquette, when the time to eat has come the host should offer the guest to eat. But sometime the host 'force' the guest to eat. it can make the guest feel uncomfortable. The message of the etiquette above is, if the guest do not want to eat, the host should not force.

I recall travelling to a brother's house for iftaar one day and when the food was prepared, all was well. He taught me how to properly eat his food and eventually my belly was full but the meal wasn't fully eaten. I have never been able to eat a lot of food and I eat slowly but the honourable brother insisted that I finish my meal.

From his perspective, perhaps not finishing the meal in its entirety is equivalent to not liking it. Allah :saw: knows best.

[emoji422] As soon as the guest ARRIVES, make ARRANGEMENTS for his eating. Whatever is EASILY available and could be prepared quickly should be arranged. Feed the visitor a luxurious meal later if affordable.

While keeping a watchful eye on the guests, the host should not stare at the guest nor make him aware of his attention. He should merely cast an occasional glance to ascertain whether the guest requires anything more.
