Evidence To Show The Falsehood Of Intercession

“Say: ‘Have you then taken (for worship) Auliyâ' (protectors, etc.) other than Him, such as have no power either for benefit or for harm to themselves?’" [Ar-Ra'd (13):16]
“And who is more astray than one who calls (invokes) besides Allâh, such as will not answer him till the Day of Resurrection, and who are (even) unaware of their calls (invocations) to them?” [Al-Ahqaf (46): 5]
Unfortunately there are some misguided people who say that if we call upon other than Allah, it does not mean we are worshipping them or we believe that they are God (Allah)!
“Is not He (better than your gods) Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls Him, and Who removes the evil, and makes you inheritors of the earth, generations after generations. Is there any ilâh (god) with Allâh? Little is that you remember!” [An-Naml (27) 62]
Evidence to refute those that ask the servants or slaves of Allah for various things:
“Verily, those whom you call upon besides Allâh are slaves like you. So call upon them and let them answer you if you are truthful.” [Al-A'raf (7):194]
“No help can they give them, nor can they help themselves.” [Al-A'raf (7):192]
“….and besides Allâh you have neither any Walî (guardian or a protector) nor any helper.”
[Ash-Shura (42):31]
“And those whom you call upon besides Him (Allâh) cannot help you nor can they help themselves." [Al-A'raf (7):197]
Sometimes people ask the dead or living saints for things which only Allah can give or do – and Allah grants it. They then they say it was the dead or living saint that answered my prayers. But:
'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. [Al Jinn (72):6]
The Companions (radiyalahu ‘anhum) asked the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) to ask Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) for forgiveness for them when he (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) was alive not when he was dead.
After he (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) died Umar (radiyalahu ‘anhum) called Abbaas (radiyalahu ‘anhum), the Prophet’s uncle and said to him to “make du’aa for rain for us” – he could have asked the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) in his grave – but no – he knew he (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) could not hear him. Also Abbaas, the uncle was alive and the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) was no longer alive
