Abu Hurairah reported: The Messenger of Allah said,
"Umrah is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the previous Umrah; and the reward of Hajj Mabrur is nothing but Jannah."
(Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

What if you have not performed an Umrah before and it is your first one?

And what if you performed Umrah, lets say, 10 years ago - would your sins in between be forgiven?

.

I found this;
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Thank you for your question.

`Umrah is an act of worship. Allah Almighty says: (Perform the Hajj and `Umrah for Allah…) (Al-Baqarah 2:196)

With regard to the reward of `Umrah, Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The performance of `Umrah is expiation for the sins committed between it and the previous ones. And the reward for Hajj mabrur (pilgrimage accepted by Allah) is nothing but Paradise." (Al-Bukhari)

It is also reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Alternate between Hajj and `Umrah, because both rid one of poverty and sins just as the blacksmith's bellows removes all impurities from metals like iron, gold and silver. The reward for Hajj mabrur is nothing short of Paradise." (At-Tirmidhi)

Based on the above hadiths, `Umrah serves as an expiation for all types of sins, whether major or minor.
We implore Allah the Almighty to help us all to perform Hajj and `Umrah.

So does this mean that the person that performed Umrah about 10 years ago and will inshaAllaah perform it soon, their sins in those 10 years will be forgiven?

^Well if performed sincerely, then I guess so. Allahu A'lim.

well yes, because like they say about hajj if done properly then its like your a new born baby, clean sheet, all sins forgiven innit!!

there is also a similar sahih hadiths in tirmidhi which says the same thin sis so yesh its gota be truee

also their is a hadiths about jummah if you attend it, all your sins are forgiven from the previous week,

so if you done umrah however long ago and you do it sincerly to please Allah (swt) and do it correctly then inshallah Allah (swt) will forgive all your sins!

keep smilin!! :D
