Surah 8 — Al-Anfal: 38
I recently learned that, upon accepting Islam, all past sins are forgiven.
This is supported by the verse in Surah Al- Anfal, Ayat 38, where Allah encourages those who disbelieve to repent and promises forgiveness for what has passed.
The classical scholars explain that embracing Islam cleanses a person of their former sins, much like a new beginning.
This is also supported by the hadith, such as the one in Sahih Muslim where the Prophet Muhammad عليه السلام said that Islam wipes out whatever sins came before it.
This signifies the immense mercy and grace of Allah in granting a fresh start to Muslims.
