We are protected if we follow Islam. It's very simple.


1) No unnecessary chit chat with opposite gender


2) Strictly no dating or meeting with the opposite gender


I think with cases like these where the individual in question is an imposer - it can also make an individual paranoid. You hear of stories where fake imams are trained and sent to a Muslim area to obtain intel - this has always happened and will continue to happen.


If we strictly follow the rules of Islam we will always be protected in ways that our brain cannot imagine. Alhamdulilah.
