As-Salaam alaykum,
In Ayat 115 of Surat al-Mumineen of the Holy Qur'an, Allahu, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, says:--
"What! did you think that We created you only for sport, and that
you would not be returned to Us?"
And in Ayat 36 of Surat al-Qiyama of the same Holy Book, He [Azzah Wa Jallah] says:--
"What, does man reckon he shall be left to roam at will?"
These 2 Noble Ayats remind us all to get our acts together and call ourselves to account before the Divine Judgement catches up with us. In this regard, the Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:--
"A mindful person is he who takes his lower self [ego] under control, calls it to
account, and performs good deeds for the world to come. A foolish person is the
one who expects something good from the Almighty in vain, while following the
desires of his lower self." [Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah].
