ROFL

I personally am trying to sleep by 11, wake up at 5:30. Waking up at 5:30 is going good Alhamdulillah. Its the sleeping that's causing the problem. I end up sleeping around 12/12:30. Please make dua I can improve that before school starts! D; I won't be able to take naps when school starts...

But Alhamdulillah, so far so good. ;D

:sl:

I sleep early(around 8:30pm) and wake up early, managing 8 hours of sleep. This has become such a habit that I get a headache if I ever had to stay up late.

Assalmu Aleikum
For me 5 hours is my max time, usually I go to bed at 10pm and wake up at 6 but I try wake up during the night to pray...so I sleep like 5-7 hours but for me 5 hours is enough.
The only thing I know is sleeping too much makes you tired and lazy so I try to avoid that.
Wa aleikum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu

I sleep for 7 or 8 hours. I mostly try to sleep at 10:00 pm. I wake up according to the fajar timings.

This has become such a habit that I get a headache if I ever had to stay up late.

It is really difficult to stay up late. Whenever I stay up late it becomes difficult to wake up for fajar.

I also never heard of the Hadith mentioned in the first post. But even if such a hadith it would be difficult to know what length of time was meant by an hour and even harder to know how it would equate to night time. When the ancients first began using the term hour it only applied to the daylight hours. The day was divided into 12 parts from sunrise to sunset. The period of darkness was not measured it was seen as a single unit, called night with no hourly divisions within it.. So it is probably impossible for us to know what was meant in the distant past, in terms of hours for sleep.

I have no set number of hours for sleeping or any specific times. If my eyes are open I am usually awake, if they are shut I am usually asleep. I do not differentiate much between daytime or night time. But I would say I probably sleep about 15 minutes out of each and every hour, 24 hours a day. I seldom lie down in a bed for over 30 minutes at a time, but I do lie down quite often. (Except when I am driving, during which I think I stay awake.)

the amount of sleep i get depends on the shift im on.... if im on early shift i maybe get 6 hours sleep...if im on late shift i maybe get 9 hours.....i prefer late shift :D

People also need to take into account what is now known to be called Sleep Deficit (Google it). Which can actually have a big affect on one's normal cognitive functions. I know that I suffer from it, from all of these "all-nighters" for school. That's why I have tried to get my time management on point so that I get things done better and on time so it doesn't effect my sleep.

Well, I get around 4-5 hours of sleep! I have to wake up extremely early to catch my bus in the morning and stuff xD

Assalaamu Alaikum,

the secret is napping. such a powerful tool yet so few are aware of it.

I sleep for about 8 hours, and still manage to get bags under my eyes :(

^ every morning/night give yourself an ice facial should see a difference in about 2 weeks

The best sleep is after Ish'a. you can wake up about an hour or so before Fajr and feel refreshed and can pray tahajjud and go to the mosque without it being a burden.

Salaam,

Had a good night sleep. =)

The key is to have a quick shower before you go to bed.
