We'll be bringing some big guys on the radio from now insha'Allah. I wanted to ask you guys if you wanted to make an EXCLUSIVE IslamicBoard Radio. No longer attached to Ummah Radio.

I personally think it'll make our timings more flexible. We'll still advertise it on Ummah Forum though inshallah.

The reasons I think this is better? I find it to be easier for us to run our own shows accordingly. There ARE time restrictions sometimes on Ummah Radio, etc. Though, by staying connected, we are able to be more unified... Hmm...

Yeah. Let's see more opinions.

Also, I don't really want to affiliate IslamicBoard Shows with Ummah Radio shows, giving people the impression that we are endorsing them. I love Ummah Radio speakers altogether, such as brother Abu Mubarak masha'Allah, but if/when it comes to that point somewhere down the line where we don't necessarily approve of a speaker, there'll be conflict. I'm thinking what we can do, in compromise, is make our own radio but with Ummah Radio's server. That'll allow us to enable us to show people what is our show, and what shows are from Ummah Radio. We can basically list/label our shows, so people are able to differentiate between the two shows.

On that note, we'rebringing some VERY special guest speakers on the radio. I won't mention names until they confirm dates. TWO famous nasheedists. You guys can throw out names if you want. lol

Hmm.. Maybe I can make our own shoutcast, but hook it with Ummah. Well, let's hear other opinions. It's just something that came to mind, so I thought I'd ask.

I don't think every speaker would be approved of anyway. I mean, there might come a time when there is somebody on Islamicboard Radio who some people don't really like, but that doesn't mean the show is overall bad. As long as the people on the radio shows aren't completely deviant, I wouldn't really see a problem. So yea, I don't really care if it's either exclusive or attached to Ummah Radio. :><:

On this forum, I try to run it democratically.

I first discuss with the staff. The elders' opinions are taken into account first, such as Grandpa Woodrow, and Muhammad Uncle. After that, I compare it with other staff members. Then there is a simple majority based vote within the members. And that is how a decision is made.

As Alpha Dude so kindly told me the other day, I'm very reactionary. Thus, I try to implement this. Decisions are made as a community.
 
I am not clear about the differences between IslamicBoard radio and Ummah radio.

Does IB radio presently come under Ummah radio?
If so, in what sense?
Do we use their air time?
Are there financial implications? Or administrative ones?

I would be good to see a kind of 'managements structure' - if that's the right word - to fully understand how the two radio stations relate to each other.

[Also, is this to do with the change in our forum name? (I.e. IB breaking away from LI)? I never quite understood what that was about, either.]

I think if you want informed democratic decisions, Rashad, you need to make sure that people have clear and detailed information to base their decisions on.

i AGREE WITH you 100% it is always best to be able to control who is speaking and who is not .. i dont know ummah radio but again if there comes a day when we or you dont agree with a speaker will we or you have a say?
but as Jawharah said even if we have isslamic board radio there might be someone who me you or someone dont like,,,, but like has nothing to do with it when it comes to truth as for

im sure you meant deviant in any why inshallah when it comes to islam no deviation is allowed no matter how small especially when there is lay people who are listen for we dont know certain matters and this is why we listen or read is to learn so if we hear somthing that sounds good or right we accpet even if it isnt true and Allah knows best
but pls do tell me about the radio

How many people tune into the Ummah Radio? If it's not that many then I would recommend you work alongside them and make it something awesome which people can see as alternative to silly videos on youtube or just wasting time. Perhaps have a slot on Ummah radio for IB members?
 
Just the confirm, the plan is to have the same server, just different websites. :X so instead of UmmahRadio, it would be IBRadio (just an example), but the server will be the same. You can still hear Ummah shows etc. And Ummah can hear our shows on the same link.

I'll go with Islamic board exclusive... although I don't really mind either way.
