A strong anti-corruption movement has been started in India by the veteran Gandhian campaigner, Anna Hazare. Accompanied by a team of dedicated social workers, Anna has shaken the central Congress government to the core. The point over which Hazare and the Govt are locked is known as the Lokpal Bill.
The Indian Muslim community on the whole, despite being sympathetic to the Hazare movement has been quiet till now, mainly because of allegations that his movement was propped up by right wing parties like the BJP and RSS, a charge that he has vehemently denied. On 24th Aug '11, a consultation was held by Muslim organizations in Delhi in order to reach a consensus with reference to the Lokpal bill.
