Is being rich/wealthy bad in Islam?

As long you pay ur Sadaqah n Zakat theres nothing wrong with being rich.

Not always are Zakat and sadaqa enough. I suggest everyone read the book التنمية و التخطيط للدكتور محمد إقبال الحضر

It's a great book. but is available in Arabic only. In it the author talks about use of money for economic development, when it is required for a Muslim to use all his wealth for useful purposes, etc. Very thought-provoking book.

A hadith says, save yourself from the Fire even by half a date.

basically meaning that if you only have 1 date and there is a hungry person, give half of it to that person. You don't say, well I have only 1 date so I don't have to give any to anyone else.

Having money is not bad

Nabee صلي الله عليه و سلم has said "there is no harm in being wealthy, on condition it brings you closer to Allah " (Abu dawood)

This hadeeth is sufficient

I searched for it on Google, and didn't find any.

Rasulullah Salallahu Aliahi wa Salam said:

Whoever recites Surah Waakiah every night will never be poor ever.” (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Vol. 3, Pg 346.)
