Is it ok for a muslim teen to go out with her friends?

I am a 16 year-old muslim girl and I want to go out with my other female friends to just hang out (shopping, lunch, etc) but my parents don't allow me to go. I don't understand why. I have never done anything to betray their trust in me. And all my friends are female and muslim. Still, they don't allow me to go. Is it not allowed in islam for a muslim girl to go out with her friends?

Under Islam females must be accompanied by a male relative for security reasons when out of the home.
In the West many females believe they are bullet proof due to feminist propaganda but they are victims of rape, murder or worse. I agree with an Australian Imam who I remember saying "If you leave the meat out the cat will get it".
