Is music haram?

At the end of the day, you should consider whether music is something which will bring you closer to Allaah (swt), or whether it is something that hinders you from His remembrance and doing virtuous acts such as reading the Qur'an and making dhikr or voluntary prayers.

I will close this thread now before there is repetition of previous discussions regarding music.
