I’ve heard that if a person goes through a hardship, they will have ease later on. Does this mean in life, or in Jannah if they go? Or either depending on their fate? Because people like starving children in Africa struggle all of their lives as a lot of them die very young so does that mean they would have ease in Jannah?

When a believer suffers, his sins are washed away.

When a believer suffers his grades, in the next world, are raised.

'A'isha reported:

I heard Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying: There is nothing (in the form of trouble) that comes to a believer even if it is the pricking of a thorn that there is decreed for him by Allah good or his sins are obliterated.

[Sahih Muslim]

Yes, Allah has declared himself in the Quran that it is easy after all difficulties, now it can easily be in the world that there is no need for any person to live forever, but it endes on it and by the Hereafter Even if a person who believes in patience and hardship in the world, then in the Hereafter, he will find many things as a reward of patience.
