My dad banned Islam in my house. I don't know how to pray, where to pray, and what to pray. I will never get him to understand. I just don't know what to do... How am I supposed to practice Islam. He is also making mentions of all these other religions and what not and I feel like he wants me to stop practicing Islam which I "have" in his presence. I also want a prayer mat to be more spiritual but I don't know how to get one and not have him see it at all. Please help me. And I want to wear a kufi so I can be more submitting to Allah.

Allah baraka fiki.

Thank you.

You can go online and you'll find prayer mats (sajjada) and the kufi. You can search "Muslim American Store" and they have everything you'll need and it's cheap.
Allah will guide you, remain patient. And they have videos on youtube to teach you how to pray. And is there a Masjid near by, where you live?

Hey, I have an idea: Would you like me to send you a prayer mat? I have some prayer mats at home, and I wouldn't mind sending you one at your home through UPS for your own use. That said, I don't know what to tell you about hiding it from your father, because I'm not sure that can be done in a viable way. Especially if your dad is able to come into your room without your prior knowledge.

Bro, be positive; yeah, sure, your dad doesn't understand about you or Islam today, and he might not understand tomorrow. Though, what about though the the tomorrow after tomorrow? Believe me, bro, there are a lot of tomorrows in which your father can change his mind, but first you have to yourself change your negative mindset into a positive one and believe that things will be all right in your father's heart one day soon and keep praying for the same with a positive heart.

I don't have a kufi, and yet do you know what having that intention means, bro? Glad tidings! That intention in itself means that you're being rewarded by Allah as if you have fulfilled that intention even if you haven't been able to yet or don't know when you'll fulfill it because Allah reads our hearts. Prophet :saws: (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Verily, Allah does not look at your appearance or wealth, but rather He looks at your hearts and actions." Isn't that just awesome? So, please be happy and smile and say, "Alhamdhullilah wa shukrunlillah, ya Rabbi" ("Thanks, praise, and credit to God, and gratitude, o Lord") for Islam.

And you know what else? Sure, you cannot pray in your home. That said, there are other beautiful things that you can do to show Allah that you love Him and love Islam. How about you write a Gratitude Journal? Because Allah says, "And few of My servants are grateful" (Quran 34:13). How about you write in your Gratitude Journal with the intention of being counted as among that blessed "few" peoples? And you can start by writing anything you want in your Gratitude Journal about anything that makes you grateful and pleased with Allah in terms of your life's blessings. I myself am going to start a Gratitude Journal soon In-sha-Allah (God-willing) because I want my Gratitude Journal to witness for me on Judgment Day and also because Allah has said, "If you give thanks, I will give you more" (Quran 14:7). So, I want a lot of the blessings for which I'm already thankful to be increased in my life In-sha-Allah (God-willing) due to the blessings of this Gratitude Journal.

Assalamu Alaikum,

You don't necessarily need a prayer mat to pray, you just need something clean to pray on. You're also not required to wear a kufi, but it is sunnah, so if you can find one you can wear it. Either way, if you have any money, you can buy a visa prepaid card and just order these things online if you're in need of them.

For you, practising Islam is the challenge. Wearing kufi or using prayer mat are extras, in your case.

How do you get to pray salah then, if your dad has banned practising Islam in your home?

Can't you just go to some other's house or someone you know, and pray there? Like talk to them etc.

Or go to the nearest mosque. Keep it private etc.

Dw, Allah is with you. And Allah understands your situation, pray as much as you can, without him noticing, and do dua to Allah.

I heard that my relative said the prayer of the one in hardship with prayers, gets more reward than one who can pray without fear of threats etc. Idk tho.

Allahu alam.
