if this happens. 1.5 million people will die
GAZA, December 21, 2005 (IPC + Agencies) - - The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported today that the Israeli government would shut off the electrical supplies that feed the Gaza Strip once 'Qassam' missiles hit vital Israeli facilities.
"Cutting off Gaza's electricity would not only turn off all the lights in the Strip, but would also cause damage to many workshops and factories. Israel has never before taken such a step, just as it has never interfered with the PA's water supply, and at least some Palestinian leaders apparently believe that Israel would never dare to do so," an article published on Haaretz website read.
The Israeli threats of shutting off electricity make it clear that the writing is on the wall for sinister designs of turning Gaza Strip into a giant prison at the mercy of the Israeli authorities.
Local commentators believe today that Palestinians are being blackmailed by the electrical supplies, and tomorrow they may be blackmailed by threats of banning food or other indispensable materials from having access to the Gaza Strip.
The threats are a harbinger of an independent and viable Palestinian state to remain so far beyond being materialized.
