Hi guys,
I've spoken to a few muslims which have told me what they think of Jesus.
However i would love to know what you think of Him, what u know about him, if u love him and what u think of the bible.
Thanx in advance.
Peace to you barrie:
I am a revert... meaning... I was born a Catholic Christian and I happen to know and learn about the life of Jesus since Childhood, I used to read those childrens' Bible Stories - ad a collection of volumes of them. I have accepted Jesus as a personal Saviour couple of times as growing up... when I entered the seminary... there was a book "imitation of Christ" and "Fools for Christ." Christ has always been the center of my faith, since I thought of God before in relation to Jesus only... but the concept of the God of Jesus was a bit more harder to absorb due to the programmed trinity concept in my former religion. At any rate, I have always regarded Jesus highly that in order to follow him... we really should do as he does... pray as he does... follow his ways... live according to the gospel... and Pray the right way... I haven't seen any priest, or seminarian living his life in the exact imitation of Christ. In my own experience... my journey to Islam was trigerred partly by the desire to imitate Christ. Jesus said "Carry your cross and follow me" - he meant, carry your burden patiently and follow his example. Jesus prayed prostrating... Jesus prayed saying "Your will be done on earth and in heaven"... Jesus walked on earth without any materialism in his persona... Jesus was bearded, Jesus wore a long robe (but of course, the robe doesn't make the monk), and Jesus said -it is not what enter a mans body that makes him dirty but what comes out... After finding out about Islam just last year... I found all these elements of Jesus in the way of Islam. And if I truly adhere to imitate and follow Christ... all my senses points to Islam.
to answer your question... I have loved and revered Jesus all my life and I have respected him more than ever now that I became a Muslim. Before... I somewhat feel alienated to him... but now, I feel I am in his company.
It was not easy for my to become a Muslim... it was a difficult and hard journey. But since I have surrendered totally and have submitted totally to God - I know I am in His good hands.... and as what Jesus has said... "thou shalt not worry of the morrow, todays grace is sufficient for today." ... moreover, worrying is a byproduct of sin. Since I have confessed all my sins to God directly... and have sincerely repented... I actually felt that I was being born again... "Unless a Man is born again, he cannot enter heaven"... when one enters Islam... one is actually born again.
As you see... all my backup quotes for Islam are from Jesus Christ (pbuh)... because it actually makes sense! and moreover, after reading the Qur'an... everything I have read in the bible OT and NT were confirmed!...
I have always read the Bible objectively, cancelling out the conflicting verses and sticking to the most important as my guide. Like, when Jesus said " I have not come to change the laws"... and "the greatest commandment of them all, is To Love God above all!" - which is consistent with "La Ilaha Illalah!" There is No God but Allah." The message has been one and the same all throughout the Bible history... and it has never been changed... in fact - it was perfected in the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
If you read the Qur'an, Jesus is also there... he is the Messiah. "the annointed one"... but not matter how much I love him... I cannot worship him to be equal to his God. and I am not of the hypocrites.
A hypocrite is one who will say that they love and worship Jesus - the son of God... but they never really go the full distance in understanding his gospel... they never really went as far as searching for him in the seminaries, or in any other churches or religion. If we truly regard him as the most high... we musn't be afraid of testing this faith. In this case... we should test if our faith is real Gold... we need to subject it to an Acid Test. In some lingo, we may say - testing it through the fire. I did... and I am happy that I am now able to worship God the right way. Thanks be to God that he used Jesus as the instrument to make me go towards the straight path... and I am more happier now that all the prophets in the past as has alll played a significant role during their times...
If yo want to know more about Jesus... read the Qur'an.
