As Salam Aleykum,

I have come across names like Juz Amma and Juz Tabaraka, what are the names for each Juz?

:wasalamex

Allaahu a'lam, from what you writ there it seems like the juz name is the beginning of the surah which begins within that juz.

i.e. from what u say:

juz ama = [starts from] surah naba? because surah naba starts off with: amma yata saa aloon.

juz tabaraka = [starts from?] surah mulk: tabarakallahzi biyadihil mulk.

u get me? i might be wrong though, and Allaah knows best.

Assalamu'alaikum.

Every Juz' in the Qur'an is named by the Surah or the Ayah which it begins with.

Which is why you have Juz Amma and Juz Tabaarak.

Probably the Two most famous.

However some Mushafs differ with the other Mushafs when it comes to which surah and which verse comes at the beginning of which Juz'

That's why the rest of the Ajzaa' (plural of Juz') are just referred to by the numbers.

Wallahu A3lam.

^ Yea, Like I said, whichever surah the Juz' starts with.

Qad Sami3a would be Surah Mujaadalah.

Juzz 2 = Sayaqoolus Sufahaao
Juzz 3 = Tilkar Rusulu
Juzz 4 = Lanatalul Bir'ra

I think this was done by one of the Calpihs to make it easier for us to recite the Quran.
For example it has 7 manzils..so 1 manzil a day..means one full khatam in a week
and 1 juzz a day..in one month 1 khatam

Allahu A'alam

the south african and the saudi quran have little bit difference in starting the juz's for example 11 juz in the south african quraan is ya3tadiruna and in the saudi quran its inmasiblu 3alelethina theres a difference in some of the juz's but it's often not that much maybe 1 ayah or 2ayahs sometimes.

another example it 21 para/juz south african quran is ottlu maohiya and in the saudi quran it starts from elaatugaadilu the next ayah after ottlu maohiya 1 ayah is the difference but its normally not that much.

Assalamualaikum,
The most popular view is that the division into 30 Juz was done by Hajjaj bin Yusuf, and so was the introduction of the A'raab, and the division into Ruku's. The juz were numbered 30 so that the recitation of the complete Quran could be completed in 30 days, however the contents of the Quran were not considered in this. For example, Juz 13 contains 1 Ayat of Surah Hijr while Juz 14 contains the rest. Juz 21 ends with:
O wives of the Prophet! If any of you were guilty of evident unseemly conduct, the Punishment would be doubled to her, and that is easy for Allah.

Juz 22 starts with:
But any of you that is devout in the service of Allah and His Messenger, and works righteousness,- to her shall We grant her reward twice: and We have prepared for her a generous Sustenance.

As can be seen, the Juz are not organized according to the meaning of the words, just the number of pages has been considered.

On the other hand, the Ruku's are, more or less, very accurate, in that the beginning of each new Ruku normally signals the beginning of a new 'topic'.

Hope this was helpful.
Wassalam
