I was just wondering if it haraam to kill house spiders? I dont think house spiders can survive outdoors so even if I tried to let it out it would probably die anyway?

We hoover them up, looking for a solution that stops them coming into the house as the sight of them makes me +o(

Salaam Brothers

I am not keen on spiders myself...but my kids hate them.

I always remind my children, that Allah (swt) has created everything with a purpose and spiders too are an important part of his beautiful creation.
I finally remind myself and the children that we are lot bigger than the spiders and therefore we are much more scarier to a spider than vice-versa.

Waslaam

spiders can survive outdoors. they were not created inside a house.

Just keep your house clean. spiders build web inside a house if there are insects and bugs. And bugs and insects are in the house if there are food lying around for them.

Jazak Allah for all the great suggestions. I think the key is to try and take measures to stop them getting in, in the first place. Definitely not a big spider fan myself but I'll try not to kill them inshallah.

:sl:

I hate spiders. They freak me out. Probably my biggest fear is spiders. If they are outside the house I leave them alone, but if they come into my house, they violate the non-aggression pact of 2005 and must be destroyed.

The same goes for bees and wasps that get into the house. I killed a big wasp that got into the house the other day with bug spray. I wasn't getting close enough to swat it and risk being stung, so I sprayed it from a distance, then flushed it down the toilet in case it came back to life to sting me.

Insects outside the house are fine. They belong outside. But when they get into my house, it is an act of war. Like UnderArmor says, I must protect my house...

I got a dead one hanging off my ceiling,

Its been there a couple weeks.:hmm:

I came across a product called Spider Catcher , its basically a long pole with sort of a brush at the end that can be used to pick up a spider ( from a distance :) ) without killing it.

I don't think you can just kill a spider... You know that spider could testify against you on the day of judgement, no joke.

If I see a spider, I just pick it up and put it outside, simple solution :)

what if it crawls up your wrist as you try to pick it up and then goes underneath your jumper really fast and all the way up your arm to your chest +o(

Or if it enters your ear while you are sleeping? :D

kidding! no animals can crawl inside our ear canals :)

Earwigs can...

I found a spider on my bed just a few days back, and flicked it off.

But last night, I went down to make some pasta at 1am and found a tiny mouse stuck on the sticky mouse trap paper my mother had left for it. It was squeeking and struggling to get free. I hate mice and rats, but seeing this poor little thing smaller than my thumb made me feel bad for it. And I know they are full of disease and stuff so didn't want to go near it. However, I found myself standing there for the longest time just looking at it struggle, and finally I said Bismillah and grabbed a kitchen paper and pulled the tiny mouse off the sticky stuff... I was expecting it to struggle, but it was calm in my grip - which was light, because I didn't want to hurt it...

... I then opened the garden door and let it out.

A few hours later at Sahoor/Sehri, my mother asked me why there was kitchen paper stuck to the rat trap paper, and I told her. She told that I should have just let it die but I couldn't and related what actually happened, including my fear of touching it, and me saying Bismillah and how calm the lil bugger was in my hand. My mother laughed and laughed and that's the end of the story.

I hope it survived the night, and didn't get caught by the neighbours cat momo...

Spiders are beautiful. I am struck in awe at Allah Subhan Wa Ta Ala's creation as they are so small...and just amazing.. how could I stamp on such a thing?

I generally leave them be if they're out of the way or escort them outside. Unless they pose a threat, [earwigs etc etc] Squishing them is senseless in my opinion

Salaam

wasnt it a spider that made a web when the prophet Muhammad pbuh was in the cave?

peace

It was the angels who were given command to conceal prophet SAW and Abu Bakr ra when they were hiding inside the cave:

If you do not aid the Prophet - Allah has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out [of Makkah] as one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, "Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us." And Allah sent down his tranquillity upon him and supported him with angels you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allah - that is the highest. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise. (QS. At Taubah:40).

As for the spiders web and pigeons nest, there are some hadith, but the authenticity of those hadith are not shahih.

Salaam,

I once went swimming and then afterwards, I was stung by a poisonous spider as I was putting on my shirt. Apparently, it was waiting inside the sleeve for its next victim to come along :p All kidding aside, though, I don't think that spiders (or any animal, really) have the wits to be that diabolical. If they did that, they were probably just trying to escape.

Peace

Yeah I think the best thing to do is just to try and let them out the house , although it can be difficult especially in the middle of the night when you dont want to wake everyone else up :)
