CORRECTION:
In early 2004, a team of journalists found strong evidence that former USA TODAY reporter Jack Kelley fabricated substantial portions of at least eight major stories and lifted nearly two dozen quotes or other material from competing publications. The results of the investigation were published in a two-page report on March 19, 2004.
This story was among those cited. The investigation found that Kelley quoted a Dar-ul-Uloom Haqqania student named Hussain Zaeef. School officials said their records show no one by that name ever enrolled. They also said they did not see a student display a picture of the Sears Tower in Chicago and say “this one is mine,” as Kelley wrote. Recounting a visit to a second school, Kelley quoted a teacher he identified as Abdullah Shah. Officials of that school said 2001 payroll records list no teacher by that name.

This just goes to prove that the media will do anything for a story.
