Living in comfort

Salaam.
Is it a sin to live in comfort? I vaguely remember this Hadith where I think the Prophet (PBUH) told Ahmad (may Allah be pleased with him) to not sleep on a comfortable mattress and something along the lines of not seeking worldly comforts. Could someone elaborate on this?

I think that, that has more to do with not making your goal "seeking out comfort" all your life. If you focus so much on trying to have a "paradise" on earth, then you lose sight of the afterlife.. which may cause you to not strive as much with extra prayers,dua..etc.

Someone else may understand it better.
