Making up missed prayers

You could repent and thats the best you can do because:

It is permissible to combine Zuhr and Asr prayers as well as maghrib and Isha prayers. It is reported on the authority of Ibn Abbas that the Apostle of Allah used to combine those prayers when he happened to be on some journey.

If you do pray watch that you dont pray at the following times: It is unlawful to offer Prayers at the following times:•When the sun is in course of rising
•When the sun is just in the meridian
•When the sun is in the course of setting

It is reported on the authority of Uqba Bin Amir that the Envoy of Allah(PBIB) said: There are three times at which you should neither pray nor bury your dead-when the sun is at its height at mid-day till it passes the meridian;and when the sun draws near to the setting till it fully sets.


The restriction is firmly because many nations worship the sun at those times and that is why Islam has declared these occasions as prohibited period for offering prayers. Jumaa prayer is not however unlawful when the sun is in the meridian but prostration at that time is abominable. It should be avoided as far as possible. Abu Qatada reported that the Apostle of Allah disliked prayer at mid/day till the sun is inclined except on Jumaa day because he'll is heated except on Friday.

^It seems that you have not understood the question properly. He is asking about missed prayers, not prayers while travelling.

Yes, it is possible and it is required to make up for the missed prayers. Repentance for missing the prayers must be followed by making up for it.

Mufti Ebraheem Desai says here:
May Allah reward you abundantly in your effort to cover up for the missed Salaats, Aameen. You will have to start counting your missed Salaats from the time you attained puberty. (Maraaqiul Falaah pg.173)

1. When making up for your missed Salaat, the following intention should be made, e.g. Dhuhr Salaat ‘O Allah, from the many Dhuhr Salaats in my responsibility, I intend to perform the first Dhuhr Salaat I missed.’ In the similar manner, you make this intention for the other Salaats.

2. You will make up for your Fardh Salaats and Witr Salaats only. There is no need to make up for Sunnah and Nafl Salaats. (Aap ke Masaail vol.2 pg.348)

3. An easy method to cover up for the missed Salaats is that daily after every Fardh Salaat, cover up for one missed Salaat, e.g. after Dhuhr Salaat, read an extra four Rakaats for a missed Dhuhr Salaat.

I was infoming him that he could pray a few together and what times not to pray and why.:)
 
But how could a person actually calculate how many prayers he has missed? Isn't the best thing to do is ask for forgiveness?

Unfortunately, no. According to the majority of scholars one has to do those prayers. One can make an educated guess as to how many he has missed and start doing them.

:sl: Yes you can, you can ask for forgiveness and do as many good deeds as possible. Some are of the opinion that once you miss a prayer intentionally, you cannot make them up.

When you miss a prayer deliberately. This is a major sin, and it is so serious that some of the scholars stated that the one who does this is a kaafir. (as it says in Majmoo’ Fataawa wa Maqaalaat Samaahat al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 10/374). The one who does this has to repent sincerely, according to scholarly consensus. With regard to making up the prayer, there was a difference of opinion among the scholars as to whether or not it would be accepted from him if he makes it up afterwards. Most of the scholars said that he should make it up and that his prayer is valid, although he is a sinner (i.e., if he does not repent – and Allaah knows best), as Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthyameen quoted from them in al-Sharh al-Mumti’, 2/89. The view favoured by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) is that it is not valid, and that it is not prescribed for him to make it up. He said in al-Ikhtiyaaraat (34): “It is not prescribed for the one who misses a prayer deliberately to make it up, and the prayer, if he makes it up, is not valid; rather he should do a lot of voluntary (naafil) prayers. This is the view of a group among the Salaf.” One of the contemporary scholars who regarded this view as more correct is Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him); he quoted as evidence for that the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), “Whoever does an action that is not in accordance with this matter of ours (i.e., Islam), will have it rejected.” (Agreed upon).

but sister Ameena the majority of scholars say otherwise. Usually the majority has the correct opinion. We cannot rely on the opinion of a few scholars only.

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

[17:110] Say, "Call Him GOD, or call Him the Most Gracious; whichever name you use, to Him belongs the best names." You shall not utter your Contact Prayers (Salat) too loudly, nor secretly; use a moderate tone.

What that mean we are wrong for 14 centuries ????
