Male perfume

Is male perfume haram or some kind of smell haram? The sake for smelling good nor to attract attention. Because I heard somewhere a hadith a woman whose put smell for others is an adulteress. So does that mean men should not perfumes also?

The hadith is referring to females only. Men are allowed to wear perfumes outside the house.
