Meeting Potential "Spouse"

Salaamu Alaykum WaRahmatulahi WaBarakatu


If a sister is meeting a potential can she choose who her Mahram is. Can she take her brother with her if she doesnt feel comfortable telling her father?

Is she allowed to wear make up or eye liner with proper hijab (Abaya ect..)?

Are they allowed to exchange pictures before meeting?

Yes taking her brother is fine, but she should inform her father so that he is aware. Regarding makeup then she may wear some light kohl on her eyes but it is best to avoid any makeup as it is not permissable to wear any makeup infront of non mahrams.

Yes pictures may be exchanged over the internet but it is far better to show the picture rather than sending it for example many marriage websites allow showing the picture or one can also show the picture over Msn messenger or yahoo messenger etc. This is just incase as it is better to be safe than sorry because it is hard to trust people out there. The girl should ensure that she is properly covered and not wearing makeup apart from light kohl in the picture she is sending.
