Assalam Alikum, I wanted to ask if it is haram to listen to music (like rock) even if no inappropriate words have been used in the song. Please support your answer with a verse from the Quran or a Hadeeth.
-Thank you

Wa'alaikum asalaam

Please use the search function as there are many topics pertaining to this subject.

In general though, most scholars view that music comes under the forms of "idle talk" which is mentioned in the Quran as something we should stay away from as they bring no benefit.

Welcome to the forum..

Yes, this topic has been discussed many times here...plenty of threads to refer to..

Have fun digging them up and wishing you a great stay.

All musical instruments are haram, the only instrument allowed would be the duff.

So no, rock music would not be allowed, and generally rock music is very satanic & invokes shaytan
Just as rap/hiphop generally the lyrics are vulgar & disgusting, go against islam and at times even mock it.

In sha Allah try nasheeds, i was once totally addicted to underground rap & hiphop literally couldnt stop, but Alhamdulilah Allah guided me away from music at first i didnt like anything apart from it, i tried nasheeds but felt they weh too sloppy/slow for me but now i love nasheeds (arabic ones) Alhamdulilah :)

What's a duff? All I say was a new movie trailer, lol
