asalaamu alaikum brothers and sisters
I have a similar question. I'm a revert and with a very elderly mother who I care for, and a niece who is getting married in May, both of whom are Christians and will be in the church, is it ok for me to attend the service. I feel that if I dont go then I will be avoiding my duty of care to my mum, and also I feel that I want everyone there to see me as I am, and that I havent become this *monster* since I reverted to Islam ( as one of my sisters seems to think). I am the only muslim in the family and therefore it is essential that they dont feel I am shutting them out etc, and I dont want them speaking to my husband and putting him under any pressure as I am sure this sister will ( she has already but it was text and I answered it)
I do take my mum to church, but dont stay myself, but usually there is someone else there to look after her, there wont be anyone *willing* and that she trusts apart from my husband if she stays at the wedding on her own. I dont want to take part int he service, but would like to see my niece married an dmum happy and cared for.
