On The Successful One.

Assalam alaikum,
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was reported to have said:--

" He is successful who has accepted Islam, who has been provided with
sufficient for his wants and been made contented by Allah with what He
has given him". ( Muslim)

These days when people say so and so is very successful, what they mean is he is making a lot of money. By this noble Hadith, we understand who qualifies to be called successful. It is not having car x, house in y and a job z but:-- Islam, needs fulfilled and possession of a thankful heart.
Note this accordingly.

This is very good to keep in mind given today's commercialism and the speed technology changes. There is such a push to get the newest and the best gadget etc when in truth, the old one most likely fits our needs. Paying top dollar for 'designer' clothing when you can buy nice clothing for half the price. Not only that but do we really need so many outfits? Why do some always feel they can't be seen wearing the same outfit twice by the same person? Why 20 pairs of shoes when only a couple pairs are needed? Half a person's expenses can easily be reduced without reducing one's quality of life.
