Recently i saw a video in which a man talked about foods that are mentioned in the Qur'an. He began with, "Islam isn't just a religion, it's a way of life. And as Muslims we are encouraged to live a healthy life." I have read the Qur'an and i do not remember a passage that discusses physical health, and specifically the idea that we should try to be physically healthy. Is there such a passage that i have forgotten?

Qur'an does encourage moderation and taking care of oneself. For instance, Allah says “Eat and drink, but do not be excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess.” (Qur'an 7:31), which speaks to balance in life, including with food.

There's a well-known hadith that says, “Your body has a right over you” (Sahih Bukhari), which reminds us that we should take care of our bodies, as they are a trust from Allah. And the hadith about strength—“A strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than a weak believer…” (Sahih Muslim)—also highlights the importance of maintaining physical health.

Thanks. I also just discovered 2:168 which begins, "O humanity! Eat from what is lawful and good on the earth . . " In some translations, the instead of "good" the word is "wholesome". This is enough for me. 😊
