I am preparing to embark on reading the Qu'ran.
When I read the Old Testament in the Bible, I found it tremendously helpful to have a study guide. The language is several thousand years old and in some cases the subtleties are not apparent to a modern reader. Of course, one could say the same thing about Shakespeare
Is there a good "reading companion" to the Qu'ran, or is there a good annotated Qu'ran edition?
While I'm willing to just dive in and read it straight through, I'd like to approach the book as intelligently as possible.
