Practising islam and change in life situation ?

Many of us, when they revert to islam, or when they repent from sins and become a practising muslim, they think their life conditions will systematically become better (money, health, job, relations), and their prayers will be immediately answered.
This could make many people lose their iman if they had this misconception beforehand. Many newly reverts could turn back in kufr.

I know it eventually could happen that our life become better and we make many successes after becoming a good muslim. But a muslim should not pray for this "dunya" (life).

What do you think :

- Is Islam always coupled with prosperity and victory in this life ?

- How much could islam better our life conditions ?

- Should we feel depressed when we are a good muslim but we live a miserable life ?

- What do you think about oppressed muslims in the world ? about wars against muslims ?

A muslim can pray for this world, but he should pray his wish to Allah in a way that makes him get a better position in the sight of Allah.

Like he should wish; Oh Allah, please give me this so I can use it for your happiness.

There are 2 types of victory; one is success in this life, but the other one which Muslims should aim for is the victory on Judgment Day. This way, even if you lose in this life (i.e. you are killed for Allah's sake) - you will have gained victory in the highest levels of Paradise.

- How much could islam better our life conditions ?

It depends on how strong your connection with Allah stays throughout your Islam. If you stay happy with whatever Allah does to you - everything (even the bad) will seem good because you know Allah is controlling everything to make you a better person.

- Should we feel depressed when we are a good muslim but we live a miserable life ?

That doesn't make sense. Because if you're a good Muslim who has a good relationship with Allah, you will be happy even if you are the poorest and weakest of people.

- What do you think about oppressed muslims in the world ? about wars against muslims ?

This is one of the situations where you feel sad, but this sadness should encourage you to have positive energy - in making more wishes to Allah to help the Muslims, and for you to use your energy to support the oppressed and weak believers, whilst hoping for reward from Allah for fulfilling this duty.

It would be good if people were aware of the following ayaat:

Do people imagine that they will be left (at ease) because they say, "We believe", and will not be tested with affliction? (29:1)

You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves... (3:186 part)

And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient,
Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah , and indeed to Him we will return."
Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided. (2:155-157)
