"Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah."

Does this mean if a person goes away from the remembrance of Allah, they definitely will be sorrowful (in this life) or is it seen because of what happens in the hereafter as a result of this?

In these circumstances, sorrow could follow in either this life or the next, or both, which is why remembrance of Allah is so important.
