I found a Koran search site on the wweb, and found these verse:

[62.6] Say: O you who are Jews, if you think that you are the favorites of Allah to the exclusion of other people, then invoke death If you are truthful.

[9.30] And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!

[5.51] O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

Given this, how can Islam call itself a "religion of peace" when it preaches this hate against Jews and Christians?

Greetings

How does this ayah (verse) incite or preach hatred for the Jewish people. This verse was revealed when the Jews in Madinah claimed that the favourites of Allaah were the Jews and Allaah (Exalted is He) rebuted by saying that if they were favoured by Allaah above manind, then they wouldn't fear death if they were truthful.

[9.30] And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!
This is a wrong rendering of the verse, it's not 'may Allaah destroy' but rather 'Allaah's Curse' on them. Here Allaah (Exalted is He) critizies them for associating partners with Him.

You inquired about the status of Jews and Christians in Islaam and you already made your mind-up by posting your preconceived conclusion at the end. Then I guess asking for a clarifcation was not on your agenda.
