Asalam Alikum,

Recently my family members constructed a masjid as a remebrance of our grandfather who died in 1972 and also to serve the community.
I wish to Add value to the masjid by making it the Noor of the village and the Idea that come to mind is if am able to make it a centre where
People can learn to read and recite the Quran and read about Islam to spread knowledge. There are many people who are muslims but dont know about Islam.

What do I need to do to achieve this?

can Some one please list the books I need to keep at the masjid for information and knowledge?

Shukran Jazeelan.

Wa alaykum salam,

Make sure that the leaders of the Masjid are mature and want to help. When was the last time you heard a khutba about sexual sin, especially homosexuality? it's not enough to just say that they are haram-- you have to go through those subjects and help people if necessary. I can't recall the last time I heard a sermon about sexual sin and it shouldn't be that way. Counsel people on how to replace those impure thoughts with holy, pure thoughts. Marriage is another big thing that often gets glossed over, so if you have someone on your staff that's knowledgeable and married, offer marriage counseling.

As for books, get some that are about Tawheed. It's vital to teach Tawheed, especially if you are planning on having a Masjid that reaches out to non-muslims.
