If a man was to refuse to let his daughter marry a good practising muslim purely due to his race or caste then what could she do? Or would she just have to accept it.
This is not about me btw.
 
It's un unislamic but best to speak to a mufti for advice
 
we, however, can never know the exact reasons behind one's reasoning. But I think Sharia does say that we judge ppl based on what appears to us from their actions or what we hear from the words/tongue.

This topic comes up very often. Either you could speak to another family member, a mufti as the brother said, or let it go. Some parents are sadly afflicted with this hideous disease. But, Islam does not support this man's reasoning.
 
The Prophet, peace be upon him, says: “Should a man whom you find satisfactory with regard to his honesty and strength of faith propose to you for marriage, then give him [your daughter] in marriage. Unless you do that, there is bound to be strife and much corruption in society.”


As you can see Prophet, peace be upon him, does not attach any importance to the wealth or position of the man who comes with a marriage proposal.


He speaks only of the man’s honesty and strength of faith. The Prophet, peace be upon him, also warns that if we choose different criteria, our society will soon suffer from corruption.
 
It's a shame that people look at race before a person's deen. But if they are serious about marrying the person im sure there are channels she can go through like people have said go to other members of family and let them meet the guy, just an idea.
 
In this case, if the wali has no reasonable excuse (relating to the deen, character or financial position of the man) for not granting permission to his daughter to marry, then guardianship passes from him to another such as an uncle, grandfather and in very exceptional cases to an Islamic Judge.
