Selam Alekum

I just found out that Eid al-Fitr its on Friday, 17th July 2015 in europe.
here:

This means that this Ramadan had only 29 days of fasting since it
started in europe on 18th June 2015. I always thought that Ramadan had 30 days of fasting
no matter where you are in the world. Should it not be 30 days? is this normal with 29 days?

Ma Selam

It is possible as it depends on the moon of the new month. If the moon can be seen on 29 Ramadan so there will be eid on next day.

Ma Selam
the hadith is:
صوموا لرؤیته ففطروا لرؤیته فإن غمی فاکملوا العدد
Fast on seeing it, thence break [fast] on seeing it, and if it was covered then complete the days.

Every month is 30 days unless the new moon is seen. It is lunar calendar.
