The prayer room in my work place had article which states that following a Madhab is not obligatory, they say following the noble Qur'an and Sunnah will suffice. But isn't the purpose of the 4 madhabs to give us details on how to follow the Sunnah? Is there any scholar or anyone out their that can rival the Knowledge the 4 Imams (Hanafi(RA), Shaafi(RA), Maliki(RA) and Hanbali(RA)) in regards to how the Sunnah should be followed?

The article whent as far as to say following these madhabs are people that cause fitna within our Deen, and it is Haram. They is what the article said regarding those who follow Madhabs:

Whoever follows one of them in particular in all questions is a blind, imitating, mistaken bigot, and is “among those who have divided their religion and are parties” [Qur’an 30:32].

Astaghfiruallah. I on the other hand think the 4 madhabs are best at teaching us the Sunnah of our beloved prophet(SAW). Rather the 4 Imams are who we and our forefathers have reffered to for knowledge. in the Qur'an Allah(SWT) says:

Sura al-Nahl - ‘Ask those who recall if you know not’ (Qur’an 16:43)

And therfore it makes perfect sense for me to follow one of the 4 madhabs.

So brothers and sisters, as a Muslim what should my reaction be to such an article? Isn't this article causing fitna which is the very thing it says to avoid? Or am I wrong?
