I searched and couldn't find a thread on this so thought I'd post it here.

Could someone help me find evidnc on the rewards for different types of charities? Like how is giving charity for food different from charity for education? Are there any hadiths specifying the blessings with each type of charity?

JazakAllah Khayr

JazakAllah Khayr for all the articles sis :D May Allah reward you for your efforts, I found them really informative

I was hoping to find some reference to what to give charity for, e.g. is there more reward in giving money for food or is there more reward in giving money for clothing?

does that make sense?

Well , you may find what you want in this article if you can read in Arabic . (I'm bad in translation religious vocabularies):exhausted

HERE

I understood from your question that you want to know what is the type of Sadaqa that carries higher rewards than others right?

Then this will answer your question
The reward that Allah promised to His servants that do good and spend in charity out of what He provided for them depends on :

· How much benefit results from their effort

· The situation and the need that exists at the time

· The degree of difficulty they encounter

· Their sincerity and devotion.
this is from the article on this website http://www.islamiccentercincinnati.org/Lectures/SADAQA1.htm

I remember, in a khutbah the khatib said "Do not ever count your rewards but collect it as much as you can".

JazakAllah Khay sis :)

Bro ardianto, did the Khatib give any evidence? The sahabah used to compete for the most reward in most deeds, especially when giving to charity. And in trying to get as much reward as you can wouldn't you see how which acts gt you the most reward?

JazakAllah Khayr brother Uthman I found that really helpfull :thumbs_up

In that khutbah (not Juma'ah khutbah), someone asked the khatib
"I hear if a Muslim salaah in Masjidil Haram, he/she will gets rewards that similar with salaah wajib in 100.000 years ?".
And the khatib replied "Is it means if you salaah in Masjidil Haram once, you don't need to salaah again in the rest of your life ?. No way..!!". The khatib pause for a moment, then "Do not ever count your reward, but collect it as much as you can".

He meant, if we count our reward maybe we will think "Okay, the rewards for today is enough". Then we stop salaah or giving charity.

I unerstand that is what he meant. But there are hadiths stating how much reward there is in certain deeds. Counting rewards and feeling it is suficient enough to replace fardh acts is different to learning the amount of reward available. Make sense?

That khatib must be knew those hadiths. I think he only wanted to tell people, don't ever thinking we are in safe position because we have collected many rewards.

:sl: you will be rewarded according to your intentions. The more good intentions you have when doing any good act then the more reward you will get for that deed whatever good it may be. It may be that the reward for a good deed may be multiplied ten fold or much more depending on your intentions.

The most reward for charity is that you spend when you are stingy or in other words you spend for the pleasure of Allah when you have the least money and are struggling with finances.
