asalaamualekum brothers and sisters,

I've seen on TV and read about rocking back and forth while reciting the Quran I was wondering if anybody can explain why

Jazakallah for your answers in advance

:sl:
I don't quite get your question, do you mean whether it's permissible? Or why people rock back and forth? Some people do it out of habit, but according to this source it should be dissuaded as it is regarded as an imitation of the jews and gives the impression that one is dancing/swaying to the rhythm of the recitation.

Basically people do it to keep to the rhythm of the verses, and it helps them memorise? But yeah^^, it's discouraged as far as I know because it's what the Jews do.

I can't stop rocking back and forth while performing salah :muddlehea

I try... honestly but a few minutes later I start rocking again :embarrass

Well, at least you're trying. Insha'allah the above source'll motive you to at least try that little bit harder?

I thought it was a bit unusual considering Jews do it but I've seen it on TV when showing Islamic students studying the Quran I've also seen Yusuf Islam do it during a documentary
