Hi,

I'm a (white) British guy, looking to learn more about Islam.

I'm more spiritual than religious so I'm more interested in the people
of Islam than the religion itself.

I post in a number of other forums and hope to gain some insight
'from the horse's mouth'.

My first question would be. And I hope you pardon my abruptness.

You all seem like really good people. Why do you require religion to
express yourselves in such a way?

The fact logically is this : our religion and Quran(the holy book we reflect on) tells us and this is a online Islamic community and we are all nice even the cranky ones are because the Prophet was all these characteristics: patient,kind and merciful.
Patient because a man asked to meet the Prophet in front of the tree and forgot about it and remembered it three days after ,he ran and saw the Prophet(PBUH) there and when he apologized he(the prophet) said" you only troubled me by telling me to stand in one place"

Those 11 words (one sentence) showed him being merciful,kind and patience and one question on the day of judgement will be "Did you relflect on the sayings of the Prophet" if we do not do this we won't be able to answer. InshAllah that might clear a few things.

It's 5.40am here and I am pleased with becoming a member of what I
