I have following questions that disturb me. Please discuss and guide.
- It is generally understood that sacrificing of an animal is obligatory (wajib) to all those who can afford it.
- Some scholars are of the opinion that it is 'sunnah' and the sacrifice of an animal is to be done by family head and that suffice to all family members.
- Further there is an opinion that this 'sacrifice' of animal is only obligatory to those who are performing hajj. And it is described as a sort of penalty (or thanks giving) for performing hajj and umra in the same one visit.
- I am also of the opinion that it is neither 'wajib' or 'sunnah' for those who have not gone for hajj.
- Further I am also of the opinion that this sacrifice is not to be done in the name of those who have passed away.
