salaam aleikum,

Im a new revert with a disability - and artificial limb and have recently had an op on my spine. This means i can only kneel on one knee and bending is painful, how can i pray and prostrate myself when movement is too difficult? How do other disabled Muslims do it?

thanks in advance!

Wa alaikumsalam.

A Muslim who cannot salah like other people (in normal posture) are allowed to salah while sit on chair or even while lay on bed. And he/she doesn't needs to bend or prostrate.

But unfortunately, I have no video about salah like this. I hope other members can show you video or pictures about salah on chair or on bed.

thankyou,

I can stand fine, its just bending at the waist and kneeling. I will try standing.

would i be able to do that at the mosque?

..actually how would i do wudhu - washing my feet anyway?

Muslims in certain conditions are allowed to 'modify' their salat posture. But no one can guide you how to 'modify' your salat posture without see your condition directly. So, it's better if you ask your mosque imam. It is need face to face consultation. Insha Allah he can guide you in this matter, also about wudhu.

Wa alaykum salam and welcome to islam!

Perhaps you could go to a mosque in your locality and ask somebody to help and guide you to where you can go to learn about the ritualistic aspects of our religion?

You could also try ringing this number: (0116) 262-5440 if you want to speak to somebody about your specific situation. Tell the person that you are a recent revert and you need help with learning to pray. Ask if they can point you to anywhere in your location that has any lessons where you can learn these things from.
