Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,
My name is Haydaar, and I’m a native Arabic speaker. However, I’ve been living in the United States since I was 10 years old and am now nearly 20, so I’ve spent about a decade away from an immersive Arabic environment.
I speak the Iraqi dialect at an intermediate level, and I can understand Fus-ha fairly well and read the Qur’an, alhamdulillah. That said, I know I have gaps in my Arabic proficiency—especially when it comes to grammar, vocabulary, and deeper comprehension of classical texts. To be honest, I’m not quite sure how to properly assess my level or determine where to begin improving.
My goal is to become fluent in reading the Qur’an and traditional Islamic texts such as books of fiqh, and eventually to be able to study and understand their tafsir and deeper meanings.
I would be incredibly grateful if anyone could point me toward any online institutions (preferably accredited, but it’s not a requirement) that can assess my Arabic reading and comprehension skills and help me grow in my areas of deficiency.
Even if you don’t have specific resources, I would still greatly appreciate any advice, experiences, or general guidance in this area. Jazakum Allahu khayran for your time and support.
